Late 18th-century oblong Belgian marble sink, carved from "Gris de Sainte Anne" marble, renowned for its striking, graphic white veining. The basin features an elaborate moulded front with elegantly rounded corners.
The marble has acquired a little wear and character over the centuries, with a handful of small, unobtrusive chips and losses to the rim, body and base, including a loss to the rear right corner (see photographs). No cracks, and no concerns where it matters: the sink is structurally sound, watertight and drains beautifully. In excellent, usable condition, with all the charm of its nearly 250 years intact.
