A rare 18th-century Dutch rectangular sink, carved from “Petit Granit” limestone, a dense, fossil-rich blue-black to black-grey stone renowned for its exceptional durability and resistance to wear.

The sink features a finely carved bolection edge along the front and sides, complemented by hand-chiseled surfaces throughout, retaining the distinctive parallel tool marks of its original craftsmanship. The basin is smoothly finished and gently sloped towards the original drain opening, allowing for efficient water drainage.

The stone has acquired an exceptionally attractive aged patina, with minor edge chips and gentle surface wear entirely consistent with its age and former use. The back and underside remain roughly hewn, as originally intended for installation against a wall and within a masonry structure.

Otherwise in excellent condition, the sink is free from cracks or repairs. It is structurally sound, watertight, and fully suitable for use.
