A substantial 18th-century Dutch stone font of unusual form, carved from deep black Petit Granit limestone. The circular basin features two integral handles carved to either side of the body, with a gently tapered profile narrowing towards the base. The upper edge is finished with a broad, concave moulded rim, while the exterior retains a finely chiselled surface finish, giving the stone an appealing tactile quality.

The font displays pleasing wear and a rich patination consistent with age and use. There are some small, unobtrusive losses to the body and edges, adding to its character, but no cracks or significant breaks. Structurally sound and perfectly watertight.
