A late 18th century, French sandstone sink

Reference N°:

315

A fine late 18th-century French corner sink, beautifully carved from red sandstone quarried in the Aveyron region of southern France. The distinctive warm red coloration of the stone is naturally created by iron oxide particles within the sandstone. The sink features two cut front corners and a distinctive central oval basin, surrounded by a slightly recessed draining board.

The basin has a smooth, finely finished interior surface, allowing water to drain efficiently and making the piece both practical and decorative. The sink is structurally sound and remains completely watertight.

Presented in excellent antique condition, with some expected wear to the edges consistent with its age and use, as illustrated in the photographs.
