A handsome French sink carved from a single block of richly veined Languedoc marble. Dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. The basin features a finely moulded front edge and gracefully rounded corner, lending a refined architectural presence to an otherwise utilitarian object. The lateral and rear surfaces remain roughly hewn, a testament to its original installation partially recessed within masonry walls, where only the visible façade required finished detailing. The smoothly finished interior is gently sloped for effective drainage. Minor wear and small edge losses consistent with age and use are present, while the marble remains in excellent structural condition, free from cracks or repairs.
