Late 18th / early 19th century Dutch stone font, of classic drum form. Carved from solid stone and finished with a finely chiseled surface throughout, retaining clear tool marks that give the piece a strong sense of texture and hand craftsmanship. The interior basin is smoothly worn from use, contrasting subtly with the more vertical chisel work to the exterior.
The stone displays an attractive, well-aged patina with surface wear consistent with its age and long functional history. There is a small loss to the upper rim, as shown in the photographs, but no cracks or structural damage. The font is sound, stable, and robust.
