A substantial, 18th century Dutch stone sink

SOLD

Reference N°:

276-25

A fine and substantial Dutch stone sink, expertly carved in the mid-18th century from black “petit granit” limestone, distinguished by its naturally occurring white fossil and shell inclusions. Rectangular in form, the basin is enriched along the front with an elegant bolection moulding, crisply executed and characteristic of refined Dutch stonework of the period. The exterior surfaces retain a finely chiseled finish, while the interior presents a smooth, gently sloped floor ensuring excellent drainage.

Presented in very good, fully functional condition, with minor wear to the upper edges commensurate with age and long use. A rare survival of early Dutch domestic stone furnishings, combining utility with understated Baroque elegance.
