A rare, early 18th century Breccia marble sink

ON HOLD

Reference N°:

206-24

A spectacular, early 18th century Breccia marble sink with curved corners and oval basin. The sink was carved out of the highly decorative, reddish brown and white "Verdun" breccia marble, once quarried in Southern France. The front of the sink is adorned with a fine "rope" moulding. The lateral and back sides are roughly hewn, as they were originally inserted in the wall. In very good, usable condition. The marble has a natural worn surface with some minor damages and losses due to age and use. (please refer to pictures) The surface at the bottom of the sink is smooth and allows a perfect drainage of the water. No breaks or cracks and structurally sound.
