A rare, early 18th century Dutch marble font

A nicely weathered, oval black marble font. The body's surface is embellished with a beautiful chiseled and hammered finish. The piece was carved out of "Tournai" marble, once quarried in Southern Belgium. In very good condition, a few unobtrusive knocks and chips on the edges (please refer to pictures). Structurally sound, no cracks or breaks. The inner side has a smooth surface which allows a perfect water drainage.
